*Paste, heavy, very transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and the brilliance of gemstones because it has relatively high indices of refraction and strong dispersion.
Paste was used in almost everything from the most magnificent of tiaras to necklaces and brooches, from 18th century through about 1850, but they were still largely popular in the early 19th Century.
